Kim Myeong Sub

Icheon Celadon Master (Icheon City Designated Artisan, 2015)

For over four decades, Kim Yong-Seob has devoted himself to the lineage of Korean celadon, studying and renewing the aesthetics of Goryeo with disciplined craftsmanship. His work ranges across sanggam inlay, bakji carving, and relief/intaglio techniques, with a special mastery of the rare yeonri mixed-clay method that produces naturally flowing, three-hued patterns.

Recognised through numerous national awards—including distinctions at the Gyeonggi Craft Contest, the Korean Ceramics Exhibition, and national skills competitions—he has presented Icheon’s ceramic excellence through exhibitions both in Korea and abroad. His vessels reflect a balance of technical precision and poetic stillness, embodying the quiet depth of Korea’s celadon tradition.
